Private Health Care/Treatment (including Weight Loss, Gender Services/Neurodiversity etc..)
Due to long waiting times for investigations, specialist appointments and operations within the NHS, some patients are deciding to attend private hospitals and clinics, locally and abroad.
If you are considering using a private health provider, either by self-funding or private health insurance, we strongly advise you to investigate your chosen private care provider fully so as to have a clear expectation of treatment and follow up. You should also ensure your provider is safe and suitable, and provide a full package of care. Your GP will not usually recommend a specialist.
You should provide full and factual information to any questions your private health care provider may ask.
Please be aware that the Practice is contracted to provide health services in line with our General Medical Services contract, on behalf of NHS Lanarkshire and is not under any obligation to follow any requests from private health providers such as follow up tests, monitoring or prescribing. Any requests following private treatment by yourself or private health care provider will not be considered under our General Medical Services contract.
If you have any concerns or doubts DO NOT proceed with any private health care treatment until you have sought further advice.
